Jumellea sp.

Number: TN8108
Name: Jumellea sp.
Type: unknown    (What's that?)

About the name...
Etymology of Jumellea   Named for Henri Jumelle, French botanist, explored the flora of Madagascar during the 19th century. (Source: Mayr & Schmucker 1998)
Etymology of sp.   An abbreviation of the word "species," it indicates that based on the provenance of the plant it is believed to be naturally occurring, but the identity is as yet undetermined. (Source: Troy Meyers)
Pronunciation of Jumellea   joo-MEL-ee-ah (Source: Hawkes 1978)
Pronunciation of sp.   Here, we say "spuh" rather than "species" to convey without explanation that it's an unidentified species. (Source: Troy Meyers)

ESTABLISHED SEEDLINGS of these are available:

3 items (pots) offered,   1 plant per item,
Price $16.00 to $20.50,    1.5 to 3.25 inch plants

Please note that the overall size of the plants is as measured from the base of the plant to the farthest leaf tip; for low monopodial plants (Phalaenopsis, for example) the commonly used "span" measurement would be roughly twice the measurement that we give.

Also note that the pot size is indicative of just that, and not of plant size. Please refer to the overall size measurement and number of growths or leaves for an indication of plant size.

See ordering information further below.

There is only one of each individual item listed below.

ORDERING INFORMATION
To order, you must be a registered user, and be logged in. To register, click here. To log in, click here.

Order by selecting items with the "Add to Picks List" buttons above. Every time you add an item you will be taken to your Picks List so you can review it, and to see that it has been added. All plants could potentially be purchased by someone else (some "eyes" will appear next to items that other people are considering) but no one else can purchase ones you have paid for in your accumulated Picks List.

If you aren't ready to order but instead have questions, please write to: tcmeyers@troymeyers.com

Thank you for considering the offerings in our list. We hope that this established seedling program will help fund the conservation flasking programs, which are operating at a loss. Any purchases you make will be greatly appreciated.

Other Costs to Expect
Shipping and handling will be added to the cost of the plants. Per shipment, if by Priority Mail, handling/packaging is $4.20, insurance of $0.80 (plus $0.80 for each additional $100) which is added to the actual cost of postage, giving a $12.25 total typical for a few plants. More plants or large plants may cost more because of the additional weight or size increasing the actual postage.

If you make more than one payment because you added more plants to your Picks List after you first paid, each additional payment (beyond the first) will be subject to a 50¢ charge to cover the payment handling fee we have to pay. Note that if you are paying from a credit balance, there is no such fee because there is no fee to us.

To get the most out of your shipping-cost dollar, consider ordering more than one kind of established plant. You can look at the web-based listing (http://troymeyers.com/seedlings).
