ORIGIN/HABITAT: Burma and Thailand. Originally found near Moulmein in the
Tenasserim region of Burma, it occurs in a narrow band in the Tenasserim
Range between 14N and 17N from Burma to as far as Tung Salaeng Luang,
Thailand. It is said to be quite common in the Kanburi District in western
Thailand, which is near the Burmese border northwest of Bangkok. Habitat
elevations have not been given, but successful growers report that this
orchid requires intermediate to warm conditions. Based on these growing
recommendations, we used a habitat elevation that agreed with the grower's
recommendations. The resulting climate table and cultural suggestions
should be used cautiously until actual habitat elevations are known.
