The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Central America from Nicaragua southward through Costa
Rica and Panama to Colombia and Venezuela in northern South America. In
Panama, plants have been found in Chiriquí Province at about 5900 ft.
(1800 m). In Venezuela, plants have been found in the state of Táchira,
where they were growing on the bank of a roadcut in cloudforest at about
5900 ft. (1800 m), the state of Trujillo between Boconó and El Batallon,
also at about 5900 ft. (1800 m), and the state of Mérida at 7850 ft. (2400
m).
