ORIGIN/HABITAT: Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, and Peru. This widespread epiphytic species is relatively common throughout its range. Plants have been found at 1950-7050 ft. (600-2150 m), but most collections seem to be made in cloudforests at 4900-5900 ft. (1500-1800 m). In Central America, plants grow in the dividing mountain range. In Colombia, they are found in both the Eastern and Western Cordilleras with collections reported near Frontino and Cali. In Ecuador, they grow near the summits or on the western slopes.
