Pod Parent Flowers

Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range W (70-90°F). From a tropical rainforest island (Palau) so it likes lots of water, good air flow, and to be able to dry off a bit. I grow it either mounted on a tree branch, tree fern slab, or in a sideways hanging basket. It should also grow well on cork slabs. Grown best in diffused bright light. It will continue to bloom off of leafless canes, and can also keiki freely from old canes.

Comments: A native of the tropical forests of the island of Palau. This species is thought to have two color forms, a white- and a pink-flowered morph. Both morphs have been seen growing together in the same "clump" of wild orchids, though not known occurring on the same plant. Flowers last up to a week.

Parent plant: Canes can reach over a meter in length, and look best when allowed to hang naturally.
