The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. In Venezuela, plants have been found in the states of Mérida, where it was growing both epiphytically and as a terrestrial in tall rain forest, and Táchira at 5000-9700 ft. (1520-2950 cm). (2500-2950 m). Collections have been made in Colombia in the departments of Antioquia, Boyaca, Cauca, Cundinamarca, and Narino at 7550-9700 ft. (2300-2960 m). Many collections have been reported in Ecuador in the provinces of Carchi, Morona-Santiago, Napo, Pichincha, Sucumbios, and Zamora-Chinchipe at 3950-10,500 ft. (1200-3200 m). In Peru, plants have been collected in the departments of Amazonas, Cajamarca, and Pasco at 6550-8200 ft. (2000-2500 m).
