ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia. Plants are found in the Central Cordillera in
the Department of Antioquia. Although once abundant near Sonsón, they are
now rare due to over-collecting and habitat destruction. They usually grow
on moss-covered trees and rocks in moist forests at 7850-9200 ft.
(2400-2800 m).
