The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Ecuador. Plants grow in the western Provinces of Azuay,
Cotopaxi, El Oro, Bolívar, and Manabí. In El Oro Province, plants are
found in dense, damp forests at 3950-4900 ft. (1200-1500 m) above Zaruma.
In Manabí, they are found near the summit of Montecristi at 2150 ft. (650
m). In Cotopaxi Province, they grow at 3950 ft. (1200 m) west of Corazón.
