ORIGIN/HABITAT: Widespread throughout southeast Asia. The habitat extends southward from Assam, India, Burma, and Thailand, through the Malay Peninsula to the islands of Borneo, Sumatra, and Java. Plants grow at elevations of 2450-6550 ft. (750-12000 m). They also occur in the Philippines, on Luzon and Palawan islands at 3300-4900 ft. (1000-1500 m).
