ORIGIN/HABITAT: Found in northeastern Burma, northern Thailand, and in the
Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Manipur districts of northen India. Plants are
usually found at 2950-7220 ft. (900-2200 m) growing often in deep shade on
trees or rocks in evergreen forests. Plants generally grow in humus, moss,
or on rotting wood, and prefer the taller, denser, more humid and shaded
stands of forest along creek beds.
