The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Northern Colombia. Plants are found in the Central and
Western Cordilleras and the Magdalena River Valley between the Central and
Eastern Cordilleras. The original discovery was made in the Department of
Antioquina near Medellín. Plants are also found in an area between La
Palma and Flores in the Eastern Cordillera, from Amalfi southward to
beyond Medellín in the Central Cordillera, and near Frontina in the
western mountains. This orchid is usually found at 1650-4900 ft. (500-1500
m) in fairly dense forest. Although the forest floor is very shaded,
Cattleya warscewiczii grows high on trees near streams, often in very high
light.
Cattleya warscewiczii var. sanderiana is found in the Department of
Cundinamarca.
