The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. In
Belize, plants were collected in Toledo Province in the Columbia Forest
Reserve at 2200 3300 ft. (665-1000 m). In Guatemala, plants grow on trees
below 6550 ft. (2000 m) and have been collected in the Department of Solo
along the Rio Bravo below Aposento where plants grow on south-facing,
virgin-forested slopes of Volcán Atitlán. In Nicaragua, plants are found
in numerous locations in the Departments of Boaco, Granada, Jinotega,
Matagalpa, and Zelaya at 2600-5250 ft. (800-1600 m) where they grow in
cloudforests and elfin forests. In Costa Rica, numerous collections have
been made in the Provinces of Costa Rica, Alajuela, Cartago, Guanacaste,
Puntarenas, and San José at 1300-4900 ft. (400-1500 m). Costa Rican plants
grow in rainforests, usually in deep shade and in windy locations. In
Panama, plants are found in the Provinces of Chiriquí and Panama at
2200-3600 ft. (670-1100 m). In Ecuador, plants have grow near Pata in
Manabi Province at 1000-2300 ft. (300-700 m).
