This is a hardy terrestrial orchid that grows in a mixed hardwood forest. Likes to grow on a slight slope, but does not want to dry out completely. Temperature range -5°F to 100°F. Each plant produces only one leaf, about 6-8" long, the leaf sprouts fresh in late summer/autumn, stays green all winter long and withers in late spring. The plant blooms sometime in July and seeds are ripe by September. |
