This species grows terrestrially in full sun in the Venezuelan Guayana region. It has strappy, grass-like leaves, and is nearly indistinguishable among the savanna grasses when not in bloom. The pseudobulbs grow partially buried in the nearly pure quartz sand. The inflorescence is about a meter tall and the flowers are a beautiful pumpkin orange with a darker lip and a dark orange picotee around the petals and sepals. Medium-sized plant. Very nice!
The 2nd photo is of a nearby plant, which could possibly be a pollen parent. |
