Why do you show unavailable items on the web site?
Answer:
Aside from wanting to show the information to people who had been following the progress of an item, it's helpful for others to know how relatively difficult to propagate a species is. For example, people doing pollinations can check to see how many similar ones have been attempted, and how many have been successful. This might be helpful if trying to decide whether to do a selfing or an outcross.
Similarly, for items we've offered in the past but are currently sold out of, there is still a lot of information worth presenting, including cultural data and photographs.
