The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Brazil. Details of habitat type, location and elevation
were not reported. However, the plants were imported as Masdevallia
curtipes, which is itself possibly a variant of M . infracta. Therefore,
we have assumed that M. discoidea is from essentially the same habitat,
which is in the moist forests of the mountains in the State of Rio de
Janeiro at 3000-4000 ft. (910-1220 m). Growers should be aware that the
following conditions, which are based on our assumptions, should be used
with extreme caution.
