Pollen Parent Flower

Culture Notes from Donor: Pod parent plant: Easy to grow under cool conditions, will also tolerate intermediate conditions. Mounted on a cedar shingle with a layer of sphagnum. Cooler season similar to warmest season.

Comments: Pod parent plant: Plant purchased from Ecuagenera as Pleurothallopsis inaequalis. However, the plant represents a new and just-described species. Unique in the genus in having a truncate lip. The plant grows to about 5 inches tall. The flowers are under an inch long and appear frequently at the base of the leaves.Flowers last about three weeks under cool conditions. Miniature.

Pollen parent plant: One of the offspring from our TN8163 attempt of 2016, grown by Dr. Alfonso Miguel Doucette. This is one of the first F1 seedlings to bloom from the previous submission from a selfing of a plant that was used to prepare the holotype for this species. This plant is currently about three inches tall and flowering. I expect it to reach the same size as its parent, which is about five inches.
