The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Japan and Korea. Specific details about habitat location,
type, and elevation have not been reported. Christenson (1995), however,
indicated that cultivated plants grow best if temperature are intermediate
to cool, so we have selected climate data and estimated the habitat
elevation accordingly. The resulting climate table and cultural
suggestions should be used cautiously. These conditions should keep the
plant alive until more precise habitat location and elevation are
available. See note at Temperatures. This orchid was reportedly found in
the Ryukyu Islands and as far south as Iriomote Island, but Walker (1976)
reported that no specimens from the Ryukyus have been seen.
