Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range CI (58-75°F). This species has grown well under a wide variety of conditions. It takes filtered summer sun with high humidity and 90°F+ degrees. Flowers began opening mid November on a 2.5-foot arching stem. Winter temperatures have been maintained at greater than 45°F but could probably take lower.

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, the Khasia Hills in the Meghalaya
(Assam) region of northeast India, Burma, and southwest China. Plants are
found in a rather narrow band at 3950-7200 ft. (1200-2200 m), but those
found at higher elevations are normally in warmer, more southerly
locations. They grow on trees in dense forest, but the strongest specimens
reportedly grow in rotting wood or in hollows which hold decomposing leaf
litter and humus.
Cymbidium hookerianum and Cymbidium erythraeum grow in the same general
vicinity, but they are usually found at higher elevations and neither has
been found in the more southerly Meghalaya region.
