Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have approximately 340 plants in intermediate-stage flasks, but this may not be enough to make flasks for new requests, because we are still making flasks for prior requests. |
You should: |
Reserve a flask now. Even though we might not have enough plants, if someone drops out ahead of you you many get a flask. If you wait, this will be less likely because you would be further down on the list. |
Yield Estimate: |
408 plants (based on flask surveys done 04/12/2023 through 10/15/2023)
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 5 - 20 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 05/10/2023 through 08/27/2023)
From one most recently surveyed flask 15 - 20 mm (08/27/2023)
|
Expected Flask Price: |
$40.00 per flask of 16 (min.) plants
Plants proliferate if crowded, so are planted more sparsely than usual.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In Mexico,
plants grow on the Central Plateau in Chiapas and in the Sierra Madre
Oriental in Oaxaca. Plants grow on trees in relatively humid forests of
pine or deciduous oak, usually at 4600–5250 ft. (1400–1600 m), rarely as
high as 6550 ft. (2000 m). In Guatemala, they grow in trees in open or
damp forests, or on the ground in sheltered ravines, at up to 6500 ft.
(2000 m). In Nicaragua, plants grow on trees in forests of uniformly large
oaks at 3600–4600 ft. (1100–1400 m), although one collection at 1300 ft.
(400 m) was reported.
