The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: From Mexico southward through Central America to Venezuela. This species is also found in the islands of the West Indies and Trinidad. In Mexico, these plants grow in humid forests, dry wooded canyons, and scrub woods. They have been collected in the States of Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, and Yucat an. Plants are found as high as 5900 ft. (1800 m); but on the Pacific slopes, they are reported from sea level to 2600 ft. (800 m).
