The origin/habitat information below is supplied courtesy of Charles and Margaret Baker
The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: The Mascarene and Seychelle Islands. These islands are
located in the Indian Ocean, with the Mascarenes located some 400-500 mi.
(640-800 km) east of Madagascar, and the Seychelles some 750 mi. (1200 km)
northeast of Madagascar. Habitat elevation was not reported, but the
Seychelles are low-lying islands, and we have estimated the habitat
elevation accordingly. The resulting climate table and cultural
suggestions should be used somewhat cautiously, however.
