Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range Warm 90-70°F, cooler season Intermediate 83-60°F. The plant was attached to a piece of cork oak bark, held on with fishing line. Then, sphagnum moss was attached the same way over the roots to hold some moisture. The orchid is growing under artificial florescent light.

Comments: This species is thought to be native to the Florida Everglades in the Fakahatchee Strand, but is now extinct. The resident biologist of the Fakahatchee is trying to obtain plants from Cuba, on the assumption they would be the most closely related. The plant is found across the Caribbean and Central America and in northern South America. This particular parent plant came from Colombia.

Parent plant: This plant came bare root from Colombia, and was purchased at the Redland Orchid Festival in Homestead, Florida.

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 423 plants (based on flask surveys done 09/16/2015 through 06/15/2016)
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 2 - 80 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 12/31/2015 through 02/13/2018)
From one most recently surveyed flask 20 - 60 mm (02/13/2018)
