The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. In Mexico, E.
vitellina is found on mountain slopes facing the Gulf of Mexico in the
states of Veracruz, Puebla, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. Plants usually grow
epiphytically in moist pine-oak forest, in cloud forest, and in scrub on
lava fields at 4600-8550 ft. (1400-2600 m).
