ORIGIN/HABITAT: Ecuador and Peru. This orchid grows on trees in wet
forests on the western slopes of the Andes. In Ecuador, plants are
collected in the Provinces of Azuay (with several collections near
Cuenca), Chimborazo, El Oro, Loja, Pichincha, and Tungurahua mostly at
4900–6550 ft. (1500–2000 m), but plants are found as low as 2950 ft. (900
m) and as high as 8050 ft. (2450 m). In Peru, plants are found near the
source of the Marañon River in the Department of Cajamarca.
