ORIGIN/HABITAT: Thailand, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, and Java. In
Thailand, plants have been found in the northeastern mountains near Sakol
Nakhorn at 1950 ft. (600 m) as well as in all other regions except the
northwestern mountains. Plants in Laos were found on the Vientiane Plain
with no additional details reported. Plants in Malaya have been found on
Langkawi, an island just off the northwest coast, and in the states of
Kedah, Pinangg, Perak, and Perlis. In Java, this orchid is common on the
southern half of the island where the forests are moist. It grows at
650-3300 ft. (200-1000 m), usually hanging down from large branches.
