Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F)

Comments: Parent plant: Medium-sized plant. This is a new Cleisostoma species that is soon to be described. It is a close relative of Cleisostoma simondii but differs in the shape of the sidelobes of the lip and the back wall callus in the spur. This is one of only two known plants of this species and I am hoping that others will soon be located. The plant is a small terete-leaved plant and the 1st flowering produced 3 flowers but I believe a mature plant will produce dozens of flowers on a branched inflorescence similar to Cleis. simondii.

About the name...
Etymology of Cleisostoma   From latinized Greek "kleistos" closed; "stoma" mouth, opening. The spur entrance is almost closed by calluses. (Source: Mayr & Schmucker 1998)

Pronunciation of Cleisostoma   klys-oh-STOE-ma (Source: Hawkes 1978)
Pronunciation of schneiderii   shny-DER-ee-eye (Source: Choltco pers comm)

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 390 plants (based on flask surveys done 01/31/2008 through 07/23/2008)
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 20 - 80 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 03/25/2008 through 02/10/2009)
From one most recently surveyed flask 25 - 55 mm (02/10/2009)
