ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. In Ecuador, plants have been found in the provinces of Napo, Morona-Santiago, and Tungurahua where they grow in wet upper montane forests with collections reported from 2600-9200 ft. (800-2800 m), but mostly from 5900 ft. (1800 m) or higher. In Venezuela, plants have been found in the states of Mérida and Tachira at 5750-8650 ft. (1750-2630 m). We have been unable to find details of habitat location or elevation in Colombia.
