ORIGIN/HABITAT: Sumatra and Java. In Sumatra, plants have been found in many locations in the mountains at 5250-6550 ft. (1600-2000 m), and they also have been seen not far from Padang at Air Sirah at 3300 ft. (1000 m). In Java, this orchid has been reported from West and Central Java. It is common on most of the mountains in East Java, with the plants growing epiphytically on the higher, smaller branches of isolated trees where light levels are high. In Java, plants grow at 4900-5600 ft. (1500-1700 m) and are frequently found on Engelhardtia spicata trees.
