ORIGIN/HABITAT: The Himalayan region. The habitat extends eastward from Sikkim through northeastern India, Burma, the mountains of northern Thailand, Laos, near Chapa in northern Vietnam, and into southwest China and Taiwan. Plants usually grow at 3300-6550 ft. (1000-2000 m), but they are sometimes found as low as 1800 ft. (550 m).
