ORIGIN/HABITAT: Brazil. This orchid is found in the Serra do Mar, Serra da Mantiqueira, and the Serra dos Órgãos in southeastern Brazil. Plants normally grow on trees at 1950–2950 ft. (600–900 m), but they are occasionally found as high as 3950 ft. (1200 m). Pabst & Dungs (1975) reported that plants also grow in the Brazilian States of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, and Minas Gerais, but no specific habitat information was provided.
