Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range W (70-90°F). Vining type growth, needs room. Likes bright diffused light, ample water, and good air flow.
Comments: Parent plant: From Palau, this was formerly a Vandopsis, now reclassified. Pictured is a first time blooming for this large specimen, with three spikes and over 60 flowers. Flowers last about 2-3 weeks. Large plant.

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Eastern New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Caroline Islands,
New Hebrides (Vanuatu), Fiji Islands, and Horne Islands. In New Guinea,
plants are found in Central Province at 1650-2700 ft. (500-820 m), in Gulf
Province near Ihu at sea level, on New Britain Island from near sea level
to 300 ft. (90 m), and in Morobe Province near Bulolo at elevations up to
2150 ft. (1650 m). In the Solomon Islands, plants are found in lowland and
coastal forests at elevations up to 1000 ft. (300 m) on the islands of
Bougainville, Faro, Guadalcanal, Kolombangara, Makira, New Georgia,
Rennell, the Santa Cruz Islands, Santa Isabel, and the Shortland Islands.
In Fiji, plants are known only from southeastern Viti Levu and offshore
islands where they are found between sea level and about 250 ft. (80 m).
