Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: This species seems to do well mounted on tree fern slabs with a bit of moss for moisture. Grow it intermediate to warm with high humidity and shade to diffused light.
Comments: This seed was collected from a plant in a wild colony of B. guamense in a ravine forest, southern Guam. The colony was growing horizontally on a coconut trunk leaning across a small stream. The colony was growing in almost full sun under the shade of epiphytic ferns. The pod was collected two months after is was first noticed, already at full size.
The inflorescence starts at the base of the pseudobulb, about 30 cm long. The yellow flower can have a red throat. Flowers last only a few days and smell faintly of carrion. One flower appears at a time, but continues to bloom until pollinated. This species is endemic to Guam and Rota.
