Pod Parent Flowers

Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F). Grown in cultivation on Guam in full sun.

Comments: A terrestrial orchid of the savanna grasslands of Rota, and has also been found on Palau. It is similar to S. plicata, though flowers are larger, more erect, and have a heart-shaped lip. Seed capsules on S. carolinensis are less abundant in the wild than on S. plicata. S. carolinensis also tends to have many more flowers open at a time than S. plicata.

Parent plant: Medium-sized plant.

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 277 plants (based on flask surveys done 07/17/2002 )
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 8 - 45 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 07/17/2002 through 09/27/2002)
From one most recently surveyed flask 20 - 45 mm (09/27/2002)
