The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. In Ecuador, plants are found in Canar Province and the Provinces of Azuay and Loja, where collections are reported along the road between Cuenca and Loja. Plants are found at 6250–9850 ft. (1900–3000 m), but most reports are for 7850–8550 ft. (2400–2600 m). In Peru, plants were collected near Machu Pichu in the Department of Cusco and in the Department of Junín at 6550–7850 ft. (2000–2400 m). In Bolivia, plants are found near Chapare in the Department of Cochabamba and between Pongo and Quinne in the Department of La Paz. Plants grow on steep, mossy slopes.
