The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Southern Mexico. The habitat is limited to higher wooded
mountains in the states of Jalisco, México, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Puebla, and
Veracruz. Plants grow at 4900-6550 ft. (1500-2000 m), usually on the
trunks and lower branches of rough-barked oak trees, but they also grow on
rocks or embedded in moss at the base of fir trees.
