The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico and Guatemala. In Mexico, these plants are found in
the southwestern states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. The habitat
extends into neighboring Guatemala. In Guerrero, collections have been
made at 2950-3950 ft. (900-1200 m). In Oaxaca, plants have been reported
at 3950-6250 ft. (1200-1900 m). In Chiapas, they are found from about 1650
ft. to 4600 ft. (500 m to 1400 m).
