ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia and Ecuador. In Ecuador, plants are found on the eastern slopes of the Andes in Morona-Santiago, Napo, Pastaza, and Tungurahua Provinces. Plants have been collected near Puyo at 2450 ft. (750 m), but most collections occur at 3300–4250 ft. (1000–1300 m).
