The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. This orchid grows on trees in wet mountain cloudforests or rainforests from the southern Mexican State of Chiapas through Central America to Costa Rica. It is most often found at 4250–4900 ft. (1300–1500 m). It is also reported from as low as 3100 ft. (950 m) in Mexico and as high as 7200 ft. (2200 m) in El Salvador. Although found over a large range, plants are rather uncommon. In Guatemala, this orchid was found near Cobán and at several other locations in the Departments of Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz, and Huehuetenango. In north-central Honduras, plants grow in the Department of Olancho. In El Salvador, plants are found on Cerro Montecristo. In northeastern Nicaragua, plants grow on Cerro Saslaya near Siuna in the Department of Zelaya.
