Comments: Parent plant: From El Cope, Cocle Province, in central Panama (now a national park, I think, although it was just an abandoned logging camp when the plant was collected). It is probably an undescribed species; definitely has a unique fragrance, like pine resin... very terpenoid.

About the name...
Etymology of Gongora   Named for Don Antonio Caballero y Góngora, viceroy of New Granada (Colombia) during the 18th century. (Source: Pridgeon 1992)
Etymology of sp.   An abbreviation of the word "species," it indicates that based on the provenance of the plant it is believed to be naturally occurring, but the identity is as yet undetermined. (Source: Troy Meyers)
Pronunciation of Gongora   GON-goe-ra (Source: Pridgeon 1992)
Pronunciation of sp.   Here, we say "spuh" rather than "species" to convey without explanation that it's an unidentified species. (Source: Troy Meyers)

Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 154 plants (based on flask surveys done 03/30/2010 through 12/15/2010)
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 80 - 100 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 06/28/2010 through 05/09/2011)
From one most recently surveyed flask 120 mm (05/09/2011)
