Comments: |
Not difficult to flower. Flowers are creamy green with a interesting blood-red lip. Flowers appear to open more fully than other individuals of this species--dorsal sepal lifts to 90 degree angle instead of usual 45 degree angle. Otherwise, it is fairly typical plant for this species. Fragrant, though not especially pleasant. Absolutely stunning flower color. Medium-sized plant. |
Donor's culture notes: |
Temperature range W (70-90°F). Warmth loving member of the generally cool-growing Formosum (Nigrahirsutae) tribe. Absolutely must have high light and moderate-high humidity. This is a hardy plant, but it will sulk unless it is mounted or potted in a pot with perfect drainage. Readily forms keikis off of the base of the main stems. Likes a slight rest in winter. |
