Comments: In Thesaurus Masdevalliaceum, C. Luer provides the etymology for this species: "From the Latin anfractus, 'crooked, oblique, slanting,' referring to the lower part of the synsepalum, which is distinctly oblique in all known clones." Although the imaged flowers don't exhibit the anfractous synsepalum, the flowers otherwise conform perfectly to the plant illustration, description, and diagnostic line drawings in Thesaurus Masdevalliaceum.
