The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia. This orchid was originally found in the
Department of Cauca near Popayan but habitat elevation was not reported.
The type specimen for Porroglossum colombianum Schlechter was discovered
in the Department of Antioquia at 7850 ft. (2400 m), but habitat location
was not recorded. Escobar (1992) reports that this species is found above
8200 ft. (2500 m) but gives no details of habitat location. The following
climate data and Culture Recommendations should be used cautiously.
