ORIGIN/HABITAT: Northern and central Sumatra. Paphiopedilum tonsum grows in moderately bright situations at 3300-5900 ft. Plants usually grow in leafy humus on the forest floor or in humus filled cracks in limestone rocks and cliffs, but they may also be found in moss filled cracks and water seepages.
