Flask Information |
Availability: |
We have sold all of the flasks for this item. |
You should: |
Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask. You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.
You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.
You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had. |
Yield Estimate: |
210 plants (based on flask surveys done 10/15/2009 through 01/07/2010)
|
Plantlet Sizes: |
From many flasks 60 - 120 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 02/16/2010 through 07/27/2010)
From one most recently surveyed flask 70 - 100 mm (07/27/2010)

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Southern Florida, Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and the
islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Lesser Antilles. Plants were
discovered in Florida in 1947 at a site southwest of Miami where they grew
in scrubby, pine-covered areas. The area is now so heavily urbanized that
it is doubtful if any plants have survived. In Puerto Rico, Bletia patula
is rather widespread over the northeastern part of the island. Plants grow
terrestrially in moist, open areas with good drainage on cliffs, banks,
and rocks at 650–2800 ft. (200–850 m). Specific habitat information is not
available for Cuba, Hispaniola, or the islands in the Lesser Antilles.
