The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Found from southern Florida through the Caribbean islands,
with distribution extending through the Caribbean-facing lowlands of
Central America and into northern South America. Collections recorded at
Tropicos from Ecuador in the provinces of El Oro and Manabi at 1300-4250
ft. (400-1300 m); from Mexico in the state of Chiapas; from Panama in the
Canal Zone to 350 ft. (100 m); and from Venezuela in the state of Bolívar
at about 1150 ft. (350 m), with a collection reported by Foldats
(1969-1970) and Dunsterville & Garay (1966) from near Guayaraca at about
2950 ft. (900 m). Throughout its range, plants grow as epiphytes in swamp
or humid forests.
