ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia and Ecuador. In Ecuador, this orchid grows in
extremely wet forests where they are constantly bathed in mist and fog.
The habitat is near Maldonado on the western slopes of the Andes and very
near the Colombian border in Carchi Province. Chondrorhyncha amabilis was
first found in the Colombian Department of Cauca. Plants grow at 3300-5900
ft. (1000-1800 m), but we found no specific information about habitat
location or habitat type.
