ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama. This small epiphytic species was first discovered at an unknown site in Colombia. It has since been found on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica in forests at 3300-5100 ft. (1000-1550 m), in Panama at 2150 ft. (650 m), and rediscovered in Colombia at 5250-6550 ft. (1600-2000 m) near Frontino in the Department of Atioquia. It is now known to also grow at 650 ft. (200 m) near the west coast in Chocó Province and near the coast in the vicinity of Brenaventura at an unreported elevation. In Ecuador, plants grow in cloudforest at 2950 ft. (900 m) on the western slopes of the Andes in El Oro Province just west of Piñas.
