The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia. This species is widely distributed in the
Eastern Cordillera from near Ocaña in the Department of Norte de Sandander
southward to near Santa Barbara in the Department of Cundinamarca. Plants
grow at 8000-11,800 ft. (2440-3600 m) in forests, sometimes described as
thin, and on roadside embankments.
