Culture Notes from Donor: Parent plant: Temperature range I (60-83°F)
Comments: Parent plant: Condylago is a monotypic genus with rodrigoi being the only species but it is apparently in the process of being reclassified to Stelis. It was named after Sr. Rodrigo Escobar of Medellin, Colombia. Condylago rodrigoi is found only in Colombia at altitudes ranging from 4,600 feet to 5,250 feet and grows intermediate and moist in bright shade. The leaves look like a typical Masdevallia. The flower spike is long and branching and successively flowered. Each flower is a little less than an inch long and the sepals are fuzzy. The lip of the flower is articulated and snaps shut on the unsuspecting pollinator, trapping it briefly to facilitate pollination. Miniature.
